Private links, group links and function links

Understand the four kinds of link and choose the right one for each family, group or circle.

2 min read

Every link opens the same invitation, but each one shows only what it's meant for. This guide explains the four kinds of link on Guests & links and when to use each one.

LinkWho it's forWhat they see
Main linkEveryone, e.g. a family WhatsApp groupAll functions
Function linkPeople invited to one function onlyThat function only
Group linkA circle such as “Office colleagues”The functions you choose; each person types their name when replying
Private linkOne guest or familyTheir name, their functions and their seats

Find it at the top of Your links. Use the On / Off switch to control it. When it's off, anyone opening it sees that the invitation has been shared privately, but function, group and private links still work. You can also turn it off under Settings → Links & visibility → Main link open to anyone.

If your invitation has more than one function, Function links lists one link per function. They're always on. For example, send the Mehndi link to a Mehndi-only group.

  1. 1

    Start a new link

Under Group links, click New group link.

  2. 2

    Name it

Type a Link name such as “Bride's friends”. The invitation greets visitors with this name.

  3. 3

    Choose functions and seats

Pick the functions under Invited to, then set Seats per reply: how many people each person replying may bring, including themselves.

  4. 4

    Create it

Click Create link. The row shows how many replies have come in, how many people are coming and how often it's been opened.

Every guest you add to Guest list · personal links gets their own private link automatically. Use Link next to their name to copy it, or WhatsApp to send it. See Build your guest list.

Copy, WhatsApp and QR code

  • Copy puts the link on your clipboard.
  • WhatsApp opens WhatsApp with a ready-made message and the link.
  • The QR code button shows a code you can print on a card or display at the venue. Click Download PNG to save it.

Next: Send invitations on WhatsApp.
